An unbelievably strong legal precedent has maintained that in order to curb First Amendment rights, you’d better as hell have a good-ass reason. It looks like SOPA supporters had just a plain old ass reason, as they overlooked or just wern’t privy to the fact that corporate-owned, copyrighted material has become a tool in identity management and self-expression in the First World, especially America. In that sense, we are stakeholders in the very things we consume, and the dollar-bought rights that these corporations hold over our heads won’t suffice to protect their pockets’ interests.
